Putin and Modi agreed to help Afghanistan and restore pre-pandemic flights

The leaders of Russia and India, after the talks in New Delhi, adopted a joint statement. Vladimir Putin and Narendra Modi agreed to immediately provide humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people. The President of Russia and the Prime Minister of India expressed their support for a peaceful, secure and stable Afghanistan, stressing the need to respect the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the country and ensure non-interference in its internal affairs. The leaders declared their firm commitment to the fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and expressed the hope that Afghanistan will never be a "safe haven" for global terrorism. Putin and Modi also expressed confidence that the early mutual recognition of certificates of vaccination against coronavirus will contribute to the growth of mutual travel of citizens of the two countries, and agreed to speed up the implementation of formalities. In addition, they decided to consider restoring direct passenger and cargo flights to pre-pandemic levels.
